If you are american and questioning this miscarriage of justice what about Jacko? The kids were younger and it wasn't only one time! The strange thing i find is many people would argue both artists are genius...and even more people forget about jackos bad side. If you want genius art maybe the reason is these people take massive risks in all parts of their life, thats why they make such good creations that the world obviously love them for but you cant have one thing without the other in a person? Just wondering ... for all of you who thinks this case should be dropped: at what point do you think all of this should be forgotten and Polanski's guilt would be absolved? A year after fleeing the US? Five years? Ten years? Twenty? Because I really am not sure what the rules are for a convict fleeing the country, and how much time must pass before the sentence is considered null and void.

And what if the crime was something you found more offensive than the anal rape of a 13-year-old girl? Would you feel different if the girl was 12? Or 11, or 10? What if he kidnapped her for a few days and sodomized her repeatedly? Would more acts of the offense would mean Polanski would have to spend more time evading capture, or do you think his sentence should have been the same for one versus multiple rapes?

What if he raped and then killed the girl? Maybe you think ten years in exile for the rape, and then twenty for the murder, and then he could again walk uninhibited on American soil? If not, what amount of time would you find acceptable? Would the murder be the deal breaker for you? Maybe the anal rape doesn't bother you so much, but murder would be going too far. What if he just raped her and then beat her? Would you be okay with the charges being dropped now if it was just anal rape and a broken arm?

Yeah, I think it all sound asinine too.
